Background

Muzaffer Şenel, Ph.D, is a respected scholar of European Studies with a focus on European foreign policy toward the Middle East, Turkish foreign policy, and the Cyprus issue. He is currently serving as a lecturer at Ankara Medipol University, where his research areas include European order and security, the EU’s Middle East policies and New Neighbor policy, Turkish foreign policy, the Cyprus issue, EU security and defense policy, and EU international relations, as well as higher education.

In addition to his role at Ankara Medipol University and the Istanbul Şehir University, Şenel has also served as a visiting scholar at several prestigious institutions around the world, including the Teleki Lázsló Institute (now known as IFAT) in Hungary, the Jagiellonian University in Poland, Oxford University in the UK, and the American University of Armenia.

Throughout his career, Şenel has been actively involved in diplomatic and semi-academic events, including serving as a member of a multinational track II diplomacy team focused on resolving conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in order to promote stability in Europe’s immediate neighborhood. He has also published numerous academic papers and op-eds in various journals and periodicals, and has been a frequent commentator and political analyst on international media outlets such as Channel News Asia, Al Jazeera, Sputnik, and TRT World.

In addition to his scholarly work, Şenel has also edited two books: “Global Orders and Civilizations: Perspectives from History, Philosophy and International Relations” (Nova Science Publications, New York, 2009) and “Modernite ve Dünya Düzen(ler)i / Modernity and World Order(s)” (Küre Yayınları, Istanbul, 2010). As a visiting scholar, he has spent time at institutions such as the Teleki Lázsló Institute (now known as IFAT) in Hungary, the Jagiellonian University in Poland, Oxford University in the UK, and the American University of Armenia.
